Blast from the Past: Iguazu Falls (Argentina)

I haven’t posted on Slovenian Girl Abroad for a while. My excuse is, I’ve been busy and I couldn’t find neither time nor motivation to write. So, to get back on track, I’m reminiscing my past travels. This post from Blast from the Past series is taking you to spectacular wonder of nature – the Iguazu Falls I’ve visited back in November 2009.

Iguazu Falls are located at the border between Brazil and Argentina. The right bank of the falls is the Brazilian territory, the left is Argentinian. I’ve visited both sides. This set of photos was taken at the Argentinian side where you can get closer to the waterfalls. It was amazing experience.

Similar photos to some of mine from Iguazú last year, also the Argentinean side 🙂 But we didn’t see the famous butterflies at all! LOVE your butterfly pic and the toucan! We saw a toucan at the airport just before leaving and they looks so amaxing, don’t they?! You managed to get a good photo of one, too! It was VERY crowded there when we went and I think that must have something to do with us not seeing hardly any wildlife!

Thank you! As I remember, there wasn’t too many people there and we were able to see the whole bunch of wildlife: toucan, coatis, monkeys, some other beautiful birds and lots of butterflies. One even landed on my hand. 🙂 It’s amazing to see all those animals in their natural habitat. Definitely one of the highlights of my trip. 🙂

MONKEYS!!! Now I’m seriously jealous, I want my money back!!!! 😉 Just kidding 🙂 But I still am jealous! We saw coatis and a pretty bird (just one type). When we went, it was December, and it was completely full, full, full of tourists. It was a mission to get a photo without a bunch of people in it and people were fighting over the best photo spots. You couldn’t walk a meter without having four strangers’ sweaty body parts squuezing against yours. Not so nice. Also, the Garganta del Diable was closed… So, lucky you!!! 🙂 But yes, it was a beautiful place and inspirational, too!

🙂 Oh no! Such a shame you had such a experience. Too many people can definitely spoil your visit. Considering how huge the park is, I can hardly imagine how crowded it must have been. I guess we were very lucky. We were also able to see Devil’s Throat which was cool, but not my favourite part of the falls. 😉

We flew from Rio to Iguazu by plane. I don’t recall it took us any longer than any other flights we took during our trip in Brazil. To me, Iguazu Falls are definitely worth the effort to get there. 😉

Hi, love your photos. We visited in November 2008 and loved how you could go so close on the Argentinian side. It’s a good idea to re-visit places on your blog so others have the chance to see somewhere they may not have considered going. Cheers, Mark

    • Urska says:

Thank you Mark! I’m happy to hear that! 🙂
It is great people are allowed to get so close to the falls and feel the power of the water. I loved it too. 🙂

Hey there would you mind stating which blog platform you’re working with?
I’m planning to start my own blog soon but I’m having a hard time deciding between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal.

P.S Sorry for getting off-topic but I had to ask!
