Otočec Castle Wedding

I guess I’ve reached this age when most of my friends already decided or are deciding to tie the knot. In mid-August my husband and I attended wedding of our dear friends held at the gorgeous Otočec castle in Dolenjska Region (Lower Carniola Region) in the South-Eastern Slovenia.

Dolenjska is often overlooked, but is with its charming landscape of green meadows, vineyards, vast woods, green rivers and lovely towns with rich cultural heritage, well worth a visit. Continue reading

Traditional Slovenian Wedding

Previous weekend, my husband and I traveled to Slovenia to attend a wedding of our dear friends. The wedding was held in the north-eastern part of Slovenia in a region between rivers Drava and Mura called Prlekija. The traditions in this area are still very much alive and our friends got married in a traditional way.

Celebrating love and friendship in Edinburgh

Life as an expat has a lot of challenges. Nourishing friendships with people who you used to be friend before you left to live abroad can be challenging. Some friendships fade away, but there are friendships that neither distance, nor lack of communication can’t kill. With some friends it doesn’t matter how long how long you don’t see each other, when you meet, you just continue where you left when you last time saw each other. I was blessed with some such friends. When one of them got engaged and invited me to her wedding, I didn’t hesitate to book the trip to Edinburgh to celebrate her wedding day with her.
